Kids' Room Makeovers, Part One

I thought it would be fun to show the progress on the bedrooms. Charlie is getting a big boy Superhero room, and for Mallory, we found some bedding that we both love. It's called Lullaby Birds...this is what the nursery in the ad looks like.

I usually don't ever do borders in rooms, but I am so in love with all this stuff that we are putting it up tomorrow.
Here is Charlie's room so far...the yellow molding will go in the middle, and we are hanging really awesome posters in here. I need a red ceiling fan and a few more Super touches. I think he is going to love it! His Nana and Bobby bought him a cute toddler bed that we will have ready this weekend for him. I'm sure that will be an adventure!

Tonight I was so happy to have Adam at home to help!

The carpet people are coming at 9 tomorrow, so after that we can really get to work.
With all the rearranging going on, look where CF gets to sleep...

Sweet Dreams!

Finally....summer!

Yep, I still love it, even though I'm hotter than everyone (not like that, silly). This weekend was a blast. Let me start by describing Charlie's first time in the pool. All spring, as my parents have been getting it clean and ready, Charlie has been allowed to sit at the edge and put his feet or hands in. He loves this activity, so I was pretty confident that he would love getting in. Well, last Thursday, after my AMAZING spa day at Spa Sydell with Jess (thanks for the suggestions, ladies!) I decided to have a trial run with our little fishy. As we were walking toward the pool I said to him, "Charlie, you know how you put your hands and feet in the pool? Well, what do you think about putting your whole body in??" He looked at me like I was nuts. We get in, and OH how I wish I had filmed the next 5 minutes. I have never actually heard shrieks of joy in my life, or seen a smile that huge. He just kept on, screaming and grinning, and yelling, "Don't hold me, let me go"! He went straight under, and I kept pulling him back up, and he just laughed and laughed. I was in a panic, thinking I am going to have to cover his entire body in inflatables to keep him from drowning! Luckily, at the party, he was more calm, but as enthusiastic as ever. The boy is fearless. Good thing, bad thing? Maybe a little of both. The weather was beautiful for the party, and it was so good to spend time with my family and all of our friends. Here are some pics from the day.

Now that everyone is recovered from the weekend, we have so much to do! We got Charlie's new big boy room painted last week, and Mallory's nursery has to be painted TODAY, because their new carpet is coming tomorrow. Wow, that one sure snuck up on me, huh? I can't wait to post pics of the finished rooms! We only have 9 weeks (or so) until Miss M makes her debut (remember, the amazingly painless and easy one?) and it's going by so fast. I'm getting excited!!

Also, news on the work front...I am in the process of working on taking my photography in a different direction. Hmmm....7.5 months pregnant and cofounding a new company...why not?? More on that as it develops, but I am super excited about it! I spent all day yesterday working, and when I finally got home, I was rocking Charlie and reading a story. He looked up at me and said "I missed you, Mommy! Glad you home now." He has never came out and said that by himself, so it was really special. He gets sweeter every day...I am so lucky!

Okay, time to pick up the brush and roller...Pictures to come soon!

Alllllll Done!

My best friend in the whole world graduated from college last weekend! She will be a 4th grade teacher starting this fall. I have a lot of admiration for those who can teach, because God knows I would run out the door screaming in about 20 minutes. Jess started her college journey when she was about 19, while we were living in a tiny, rent-controlled apartment with gift wrapped packing boxes as end tables. (We thought we were clever). I remember watching her, half doing her homework, and half watching Maury with me, and thinking, "There ain't no way this girl is serious about school." I was right, at the time. But she got refocused, went to a great school, jumped through all the hoops, learned all the lingo, got some great experience, and passed all the tests. I am so proud! Jess feels the way about a fresh pack of construction paper that most people feel about a new car. She's going to change the world. Congrats, Mrs. A!!

Pregnant by the Pool...

This weekend marks The Opening of the Pool...at my parents' house, where 3 grills will provide up to 75 people with the most delish food you have ever tasted, margaritas will flow from 3 gallon containers into umbrella clad glasses, and everywhere you look, there will be kids playing, people playing volleyball, bocce ball, or even a hole of golf. Where will I be? Mingling under the umbrella, with my new maternity suit and coverup and floppy straw hat. But what WILL I be sipping on? I need help, people. I am all ready for something frozen and fruity, but when I count how many good drinks I know with no alcohol, I'm at a loss! Anyone know any great smoothie recipes??? Please share!

My favorite geek...

I don't blog much about my husband. We were friends for years and finally began dating in 2004. We were engaged about 4 weeks later. I think we just knew, and what's the point of waiting. I will say this, though. It happened so fast that some of my very closest friends did not really get to know Adam until after I had the ring on my finger. I specifically remember Jess saying, "Heather...um, I don't get it. But you seem happy!". (She gets it now.) Adam can be kind of uncomfortable when meeting new people. He's never been the guy at the party who comes up, offers a megawatt smile and a handshake and says, "Pleased to meet you, Bill." When we started dating, he had long hair, really long hair, and the cutest quiet smile. I knew there was a lot more to Adam than I had originally thought. One morning after we stayed up all night talking and...well, just talking...we drove the store at sunrise. Adam played me Jump, Little Children songs and we held hands. It was all so normal, but I was fascinated with him. I felt special to be the girl who he wanted to spend time with and let me in, past all that shyness. He is not the kind of guy who charms your friends on the first meeting, or gives a toast at a wedding. He is the kind of guy who at dinner, tells you that being with you is like one of those movies where the dorky guy ends up with the amazing girl that would never really give him the time of day. He has hidden notes for me all around our house, a treasure hunt with a prize at the end. He watched every episode of Sex and the City with me. He makes the best toast with eggs in the middle, whenever I want. He makes jokes that sometimes make me laugh, and most of the time make me roll my eyes and punch him. He makes me happy. Adam is in NO WAY perfect. Just ask Jess, my HCB (Hubby complaint department). But I feel lucky to be married to someone so quirky. I mean, really...he's a weird dude. A handsome weird dude. No one can deny that jawline is sexy. And so, without further ado, I invite you into the madness that is life with a geek...Adam Boshanks has joined the blogging community. The internet may never be the same.

To the mountains...AGAIN!

Okay, the summed up version:
Our Durango died a sad death back in April in the mountains.
We left it, refusing to buy a transmission for an old car we got really cheap.
Someone wanted to buy it and fix it!
Off we go to get the money and happily hand over the title to that P.O.S.
This means....a day trip to Helen with Charlie and my sis, Marlena!

On our way...

We will miss you, ya clunker!

While we're here, might as well spend zee afternoon in Helen, huh?

Ok, one reason for coming here for lunch was the best Rueben sandwich in the WORLD!

We wanted to take Charlie to one more place before we left, so we headed to a place called Charlemagne's Kingdom, where a husband and wife from Germany have set up the biggest, most elaborate model train set I have ever seen. It was amazing. I couldn't even get a shot of the whole thing. Charlie loved it!

After all that walking, I was just beat. (Hence my overly dramatic last blog entry.)
Soooo...thanks for driving us home, M!

We had a really fun day, and I am so glad Marlena was able to go with us. We used to go there as kids all the time, so getting candy and a pickle at the same store we used to go to was fun. Having her around is like having a nanny! I don't know if she feels sorry for ME or for Charlie (haha) but I appreciate it!
I just wanted to add this...I know my last post sounded terrible and I in no way would ever mean to be insensitive about pregnancy. I am extremely blessed and lucky to be going through all of it. I feel much better after resting yesterday! Thanks for all the great advice and kind words.
:)

Call the Waaambulance.

I'll do an actual update soon.
For now, I bitch.
I did not expect to feel this run down at 7 months. I thought like, the last 4 weeks might be rough. I sure did not think my feet, legs and knees would look like those of a brontosaurus this soon. I didn't think my belly would be this huge with 11.5 weeks to go. Nor did I really think I would cry at every little thing, have cramps and back pain that make it hard to do anything, or become so enraged at my poor hubby that I think he may be working extra to get the hell away from me. That is one man that is so ready for another adoption, let me tell you. ;)
Of course, it's not all bad. I was just...overly optimistic about how easy this would be. I thought about not posting this so I could give off the illusion of glowing pregnant and happy goddess type. Ha...time for some blogesty, people.
It's rough.
I am ready to meet our MJ.
Labor doesn't even phase me anymore. Bring it!
Like I said...a real update later. There is so much going on it's ridiculous, but awesome. ;)

Mush.

The other night Charlie and I were lying in bed talking and playing, and he wrapped his arms around my neck and said, "Charlie make Mommy SO SO happy!"
He is so right.

Hello, Hollywood!

Things have been crazy around here. These photos were taken yesterday, when I felt much better about Charlie's tummy issues. We had another rough morning, so it was back to the doctor. They are being very thorough, and doing lots of tests to determaine what could be causing it. He feels sick off and on throughout the day, but no fever or vomiting, so it's very mysterious to all of us. Hopefully by next week, we will know more. For now, I am really trying to get him to eat as much as possible and making the most of the time when he feels like his happy self. I know that we have lots of support and prayers and good vibes coming from lots of people, and we are so grateful for it!

On a happier note, last night Laura and I went to see Bon Jovi! (Don't hate on me, Charlie was fine when I left!) We found a great restaurant for dinner, we didn't get lost, and other than almost getting backed over by a car, we got to the show just fine. JBJ and the boys were amazing as usual, and we danced and sang along...well, to the old stuff and most of the new songs. There were a couple that were lost on me. That man has still got it. The leather pants, the sleeveless shirt, the smile...Let's just say it was impressive! Anyone that can wear leather and sweat like that is very brave indeed. It was great to be able to hang out with Laura. Thanks again for inviting me! :)

We are busy for the next couple of days, getting ready for our big yard sale this weekend. It's a lot of work, but...have you seen the lady on Oprah who hoards things? Okay, I'm not that bad...yet. Hopefully we can get some money for all this stuff I have accumulated over the years. I really want to get organized before Mallory comes. Nesting is impossible when I still have boxes to go through!

Does life EVER calm down??
