My best friend in the whole world graduated from college last weekend! She will be a 4th grade teacher starting this fall. I have a lot of admiration for those who can teach, because God knows I would run out the door screaming in about 20 minutes. Jess started her college journey when she was about 19, while we were living in a tiny, rent-controlled apartment with gift wrapped packing boxes as end tables. (We thought we were clever). I remember watching her, half doing her homework, and half watching Maury with me, and thinking, "There ain't no way this girl is serious about school." I was right, at the time. But she got refocused, went to a great school, jumped through all the hoops, learned all the lingo, got some great experience, and passed all the tests. I am so proud! Jess feels the way about a fresh pack of construction paper that most people feel about a new car. She's going to change the world. Congrats, Mrs. A!!

I am so grateful to have another brave soul in our education system. I know our Jer-ssica is gonna be awesome!
